Next Motorola Droid All Set For Launch With Verizo…
Preparations to unveil the new Verizon Motorola Droid X, are in full swing. Verizon plans to unveil the next generation android phone on Wednesday. Though Verizon declined to go into the details, the carrier did mention that VP/chief marketing officer John Stratton, would be one of the speakers at the launch event in New York.
Other eminent speakers include Google engineering VP Andy Rubin, Motorola co-CEO Sanjay Jha and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen.
The current Motorola Droid runs Android 2.1 OS but the new device is expected to run the new Android 2.2 Froyo which was recently released by Google. The new Android is expected to be faster and would make Android smartphones into mobile Wi-Fi hot spots. It would also support Adobe Flash within the browser and add new camera/camcorder features, Google said during a recent developers’ conference here.
One more killer feature that comes with the new device is that it would also allow the users to voice dial over Blouetooth. It also supports Microsoft Exchange for enterprise users, and lets users make room for more apps by storing them on memory cards.
Android 2.2 is a dream OS as it also allows phones running it to be used as a wireless modem when connected to a laptop via USB cable to share a wireless data connection.
Apart from new Motorola Droid, Verizon currently offers five Android – based phones: Droid by Motorola, Droid Eris, Droid Incredible by HTC, Motorola Devour and LG Ally.
